The downside of being mostly a fan of a band’s later work from the point you first get into them is that when they do fun little gigs like this of rarities and deep cuts, you tend to neither know said cuts nor the hits thrown in to appease the masses. Still, it’s a lot of fun having them in semi-stripped back form. They’re very chatty, Ritzy seems less shy than when I saw them at The Fleece last time, and her effect chain is to die for. They do one song acoustic in the middle of the audience, a Christmas song at the end, and they at least play Into The Blue, one of my absolute faves, so it’s a lovely, cosy evening all round.
