A cracker of a gig to tie off 2025, with Everything Everything celebrating 10 years since Get To Heaven, arguably (whisper it) their most overrated album amongst the fandom. But, an Everything Everything gig is an Everything Everything gig, and I do still love that album! After a very long queue for pizza, Zac, Alasdair, and I make it inside and get surprisingly close to the front from the side. To EE’s credit, they eschew the “album back to front then encore of hits” format to still allow themselves to dictate the flow of the setlist suited to a live setting. To The Blade still kicks off in style, straight into Blast Doors for a high octane 1-2. The b-sides are mixed in throughout, to great effect. Zac gets his precious Zero Pharaoh, Alasdair gets his Fortune 500, I get my Blast Doors. The traditional main set end-pair of Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread and Distant Part still need retiring at large, but it works here. First encore is the highlight, Hapsburg Lipp being an absolute banger live that has no place not being regularly in setlist rotation after this tour, the perma-sensory-overload No Reptiles, and album closer Warm Healer slotting nicely into place. A second encore gives us only two hits - one early (My Kz, Ur Bf) and one late (Cold Reactor), to sing us into the night. Support from Lime Garden who apparently we saw earlier this year at Busted, and do better here in front of a crowd more in the vibe.
