A fascinating fever dream of a novel that makes a lot more sense about a fifth of the way through when I realise that it makes a whole lot more sense if I read it in the voice of the narrator from It’s Such A Beautiful Day. Written while insane from Covid and permanent migraine, edited while saner post-that, it’s a remarkably affecting account of what living through that was like, both personally to Lockwood and also just more to the still under-discussed low-level trauma that we all went through in that period.
