A beautiful weighty tome and companion piece to the Ashmolean exhibition. An absolute treat to see especially peeks into Thom Yorke’s notebooks, full of lyrical scraps, early notes, musings on track listings. The finished pieces are always a sight to behold, and the interviews with Yorke and Donwood are more illuminating than I might have expected. The essays are variable in quality, with the stand-out for me being one on the use and evolution of the artist’s sketchbook. I must think about how that could/would work in a stand-up setting.
